Sand-to-Silicon Anodes for Lithium-Ion Batteries: EnerMat Technologies and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute are collaborating on an exciting low-cost silicon anode technology. The project is funded by the New York State Energy Research Development Authority and is expected to dramatically reduce the cost of battery-grade silicon. The project builds on EnerMat's core technology of carbon-encapsulated silicon anodes that has shown to deliver excellent capacities over extended cycle life.
